Many women continue to work during their pregnancies. We need to be aware of factors that may affect the developing baby. Our habits, hobbies and daily activities are all a part of our lifestyle. Women who work in healthy workplaces have fewer pregnancy complications.

Concerns associated with unhealthy lifestyle are by far the most preventable and controllable factors within our lives. Smoking and second-hand smoke, a poor diet, lack of exercise, alcohol use and excessive stress are a few of the lifestyle concerns a pregnant woman can control.

  • Ask your doctor about prenatal vitamins
  • If you are a smoker try to cut down or quit
  • Avoid second-hand smoke
  • Do not drink alcohol
  • Take a walk at lunch or break times
